Abbeygate Sixth Form Local Governing Body
The Local Governing Body of Abbeygate Sixth Form College consists of a group of 9 people drawn from all areas of life, who are responsible for the standards of teaching and learning, the standard and quality of education provided, student outcomes, and how and when this performance is to be reviewed, scrutinised and monitored by them and reported up to the Trust Board.
Local governors are appointed for a term of four years, apart from the Principal who is part of the Governing Body for the duration of their Principalship, should they so wish.
The Local Governing Body exists to support the Principal and his team; to ensure that academic standards are maintained, and that the College is continually striving to reach the next level and strives to achieve the strategic aims of the Trust. They do this by ensuring that they understand the College well (its strengths and areas for development) in order to determine how the College is currently performing and where it needs to get to; and by asking the right questions.
