A group of 20 talented musicians performed Christmas classics in the ARC shopping centre this week to raise money for St Nicholas Hospice.

The learners are collectively known as ‘Sound Collective’ and they currently all study at Abbeygate Sixth Form College in Bury St Edmunds.

Their soul sounds had shoppers dancing amidst the sheds near The Apex as they belted out a medley of festive numbers.

Teacher of music at Abbeygate Sixth Form is Hayley Robinson. Hayley said: “This was a great chance for us to get out in to the community and it helps raise the profile of our musicians.

“Not only that, we get to raise money for a great local cause and students get a flavour of what it’s like to be a gigging musician. It was also great to put some smiles on the faces of shoppers on a cold winter’s day.”

“Last year we raised around £200.00. The money raised for this year is currently being totaled - the aim is to match or beat last years total.”
