We are looking for an enthusiastic scientist with a passion for education to assist the Science Department in providing pupils with an engaging and effective Science education that ensures the highest levels of achievement and promotes a passion for scientific enquiry.

Reporting to the Head of Science, the technician will coordinate the use of practical equipment and materials and provide assistance and advice in meeting the practical needs of the Science curriculum, liaising directly with the Science teaching staff

We are looking for a teacher who will inspire and enthuse our Year 12 Criminology and Psychology students and help them develop a genuine interest in the subject.  We want teachers who are driven and determined to make a positive difference.  We expect teachers to use their pedagogical skills to ensure lessons are enjoyable and engaging whilst supporting our students to achieve the best possible grades, that enable them to progress on to their chosen destination. 

You will have the privilege, and challenge, of working in an exclusively A Level Sixth Form College with students that enjoy learning and have a determination to do well in their academic studies.

Student Support Administrator Apprenticeship

  • Monday - Thursday 8:30am- 4:30pm - Friday 8:30am - 4:00pm. 12 month contract.

Suffolk Academies Trust is currently comprised of One Sixth Form College in Ipswich and Abbeygate Sixth Form College in Bury St Edmunds. We are currently looking for a Student Support Administrator, who will be based at Abbeygate Sixth Form College, Bury St Edmunds. 

What will the apprentice be doing?

Main Duties:

  • Support Administration staff and Personal Progress Tutors (PPT) within student support and curriculum areas with a wide range of administrative processes.
  • Support the delivery of key events as required by the college throughout the academic year such as Parent’s Evenings and Open Events.
  • Assist with arranging educational visits, in accordance with our procedures.
  • Maintain files and systems ensuring they are up to date and accurate.
  • Undertake copy/word-processing of correspondence reports, etc for teaching and administrative staff.
  • Operate reprographic equipment as required. • To assist with key supporting duties around the enrolment and on-boarding of students at the beginning of the academic year.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • The learner will be studying the Customer Service Practitioner Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard qualification.
  • Day release to West Suffolk College.
  • Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

This can lead to further roles across ECG such as a Personal Progress Tutor or an administrative role, as and when they are available. £6.83 per hour 18 - 20 years old. £4.81 per hour - under 18 years old

Director of People, Culture and Internal Communications

We are seeking a Director of People, Culture and Internal Communications to join our team, working across the Eastern Colleges Group (ECG).  In this exciting new role, you will be responsible for delivering cultural change and creating engagement with staff across the Group, ensuring staff understand and buy into our organisational strategy, values, mission vision and character strengths as well as creating a culture of engagement and continuous development.

You will work with Executive Team colleagues to create internal communication plans that engage and inform our staff of current and future developments. Additionally, you will develop and implement tools which create an employee voice such as staff surveys and focus groups amongst others.

You will also support our Chief People Officer to continue the implementation of our People Strategy as part of ECGs Strategic Plan, liaising with our HR Managers to enable HR operational plans to be realised across the Group and ensure that all outward facing HR information is engaging and portrays the Group as an employer of choice.

You will have a fixed base in either Bury St Edmunds or Ipswich, but with regular travel between our sites.

We are seeking an individual who can provide service and customer support at Abbeygate Sixth Form Centre. You will be there to assist with any problems relating to software, hardware and networking that arise, dealing with these requests in a timely manner ensuring minimal disruption for staff and students.   

The successful candidate should be able to work in a fast paced, agile team and confident to work without supervision. There may be times where you are asked to support across our other campuses so a driving license would be an advantage.

Group Transactional HR Co-ordinator

  • £25,878- £28,370 gross per annum

The Eastern Colleges Group prides itself on sourcing and employing the best talent to deliver a great student experience. We are seeking to appoint a proactive and customer focussed Transactional HR Co-ordinator to work closely with the Group Recruitment Manager.

A key element of this role is to oversee the pre-employment check process for new starters across the Group, co-ordinating the work of the HR Administrators to ensure that checks (e.g. DBS checks, references) are processed efficiently and that an excellent level of customer service is provided to new starters.

You will support our HR Administrators and ensure that all HR transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner, working closely with our Payroll Teams; this includes the setting up of new starters, processing of variations to contracts, leavers and reviewing expiring fixed term contracts.

You will also work with the Group Recruitment Manager to support the implementation of our new HR system – iTrent – and work collaboratively to develop and improve our processes.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in HR Administration, with a sound understanding of the employee lifecycle. Experience of HR Administration within an educational environment would be advantageous, as would experience of our HR system – iTrent, but training will be given if you are unfamiliar with this system. You will have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build good working relationships with staff at all levels across the business.

This is a hybrid role, with a blend of home working and on-site working as business needs dictate.
