Is it for me?
If you enjoy working with numbers, solving problems and understanding how businesses make financial decisions, the Accounting and Finance V Level could be the perfect course for you.
This new Level 3 qualification combines the theory of accounting and finance with practical, work-related learning. Rather than simply learning concepts, you will use financial information to investigate real organisational situations, identify patterns, evaluate performance and make informed recommendations.
You will develop the skills to understand what financial information is really telling us. You might analyse whether an organisation is profitable, investigate why costs have changed, compare financial performance over time, interpret budgets or consider whether an investment represents a good business decision.
What you'll learn
Throughout the course you will develop confidence in working logically and methodically with financial information. You will learn how to:
- analyse financial statements and assess an organisation's financial position
- calculate and interpret profitability, liquidity, efficiency and solvency ratios
- use percentages, margins, contribution and variance calculations
- identify financial patterns and trends
- interpret cash flow, budgets and performance information
- use break-even information and graphical representations
- compare different financial options and make justified recommendations
- consider both financial and non-financial factors when making decisions
- understand accounting principles and how business transactions affect financial performance
- explore ethics, regulation, sustainability and risk within accounting and finance
- understand how spreadsheets, digital accounting systems and AI are changing the finance profession.
Equipment required for the course
No specialist equipment requirements have been confirmed. You will need your usual college stationery and access to the digital resources used for teaching and assessment. Eastern Education Group will confirm any additional requirements before the course begins.
Work experience placements
A substantial industry placement is not a defining requirement of a V Level. The course will use practical, work-related learning to show how knowledge and skills are applied in education settings.
Assessment
The detailed assessment model will be confirmed in the final qualification specification. Assessment will test both your knowledge and your ability to apply knowledge and practical skills in education-related contexts. The balance of examinations and non-examined assessment will be added when confirmed.
