Year 13 students at Abbeygate Sixth Form College got a boost ahead of the start of their exams when staff laid on an awards afternoon.
The occasion saw 34 prizes handed out to learners for showing characteristics such as determination, hard work, progress and resilience.
All winners received a certificate and book related to the course that they are studying.
And at the end of the day, the Student Union gave out some fun prizes that included categories such as ‘most trips to Asda’ and ‘funniest excuse for forgetting your lanyard’.
Before the awards, several student music performances were heard before the CEO of Eastern Education Group (which Abbeygate belongs to), Dr Nikos Savvas OBE DL, reflected positively on the class of 2026.
He said: “We built this place for you. We are really proud of you. You have been given an education that many around the world can only dream of. Use it not only to advance your own future but to uplift others, to challenge injustice and to help build a more compassionate, inclusive, and sustainable world.”
Nadine Payne is the Group Director for Careers, Progression and Opportunities at Eastern Education Group. She said: “This is probably the last time this year group will be all together so it’s a great way to celebrate their achievements so far and wish everyone well during their exams.”
